Highlights While Serving on the BOUSD School Board:

  • Leadership of our Award Winning District to consistently high State and County performance metrics

  • Promote programs that engage students in STEM classes and extracurricular activities including Robotics and the Global IT Academy

  • Transformation of Laurel Elementary School into Laurel Elementary Magnet School of Innovation and Career Exploration resulting in a significant enrollment increase

  • Launched the Falcon Academy of Science & Technology, the District’s Coding Magnet School

  • Established the Arovista Dual Immersion Spanish Program

  • Moved all schools to a one student / one computer technology standard

  • Careful financial oversight following the Great Recession, ensuring balanced budgets and positive certifications

  • Matched Eastern Brea growth with our Nationally Recognized Olinda Elementary Campus

  • Re-established Brea Canyon High School after destruction by the Freeway Complex Fires

  • Partner with the City of Brea for a long-awaited playground renovation at Laurel School in Lagos de Moreno Park
